James Turk Baker, Sr.—Age eighty-seven. December 26, 1991, at his residence. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Lillian Whitmore Baker; sons, James Turk Baker, Jr., Nashville, Gene Arvin Baker, Franklin, Ropnald Wayne Baker, Nashville, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Mr. Baker’s remains are at the Broadway Chapel, 1715 Broadway. Visitation will be held Saturday, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services to be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 30, 1991, Otter Creek Church of Christ by Dr. Carroll Ellis. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Serving as Active Pallbearers: Robert E. Bowman, Robert B. Baker, Arthur C. Nelson, Raymond E. Jones, Richard McCann Baker, Davey B. Whitmore, Albert Lucas, and Albert E. Hill. Honorary Pallbearers: James Whitmore, Lynn F. Johnson, Charles Lauper, Paul Swindell, S. Kennedy Green, D. Warren Forehand, Jr., Earl Alexander, William Underhill, Joe L. Minton. Jimmy Baker served as a Deacon at Otter Creek for many years. He was a successful businessman and avid follower of Vanderbilt athletics, particularly its basketball team. He was a man trusted with things great and small.
