Jane Mott Rites Tomorrow
Services for Mrs. Jane Taylor Mott, fifty-five, of Brentwood, will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Otter Creek Church of Christ with Dr. Carroll E. Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Cookeville. Mrs. Mott died yesterday in Vanderbilt Hospital after a long illness. The body is at Martin’s and Bracy-Welch Funeral Home.
A native of Nashville, Mrs. Mott was the daughter of Mrs. J.S. Taylor and the late Mr. Taylor. She attended public schools in Manchester and Milan, TN, and was graduated from Livingston Academy in Livingston, TN. Mrs. Mott received her bachelor’s degree in accounting with honors from Tennessee Tech. She was a certified public accountant and had her own office until she retired last September because of her health. Previously, she had been affiliated with the Delman Co. and Vistron Corp. in Brentwood , Ernst & Ernst certified public accountants and Lester White & Co.
She was married to John R. Mott, director of advertising for Kuhn’s Big K Stores Corp., and former Cookeville newspaper publisher. An active civic and business leader, Mrs. Mott had received several awards for her work, including the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award in 1974 and the Executive Recognition Award in 1974 and the Executive Recognition Award from Women Executives International in 1973. After moving to Brentwood, she served as district governor of the Pilot Club and belonged to the Otter Creek Church of Christ, Phi Alpha Theta honor society, the American Society of Women Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Brentwood and Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Brentwood Country Club and the Brentwood Women’s 18-hole Golf Association.
Survivors in addition to her mother include a daughter, Mrs. Roger E. Wright, Brentwood; a son, John R. Mott III, Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence L. May, Nashville; a brother, James C. Taylor Jr., Kansas City, KA, and two grandchildren.
